Train your four-legged friend to be familiar with a travel crate, this will save a lot of barking and screaming at the airport and during the flight.
Most dogs fly in the cargo part of the plane.
This space is heated for your four-legged friend and is supervised during a flight.
Before booking a flight:
Check the official website of the country you want to travel to to see what the requirements are for the destination.
Usually this involves:
- a registerd CHIP that is given before the Parvo vaccin,
- Parvo vaccination (minimum 21 days old),
- a health certificate (maximum 21 days old)
As for Europe a puppie can't travel to a Europeen destination before they are 15 weeks old.
As for the USA they are free to travel till august 1st. After that date they have to be atleast 6 months old.
We give you a few websites with the offical information.

Travel to the USA with a dog,
Tavel to the Netherlands
The period from booking until flying:
Take the time during this period to get your dog used to the travel bag (in the cabin) or the crate (in the cargo).
This can be done in different ways, but what matters is the goal.
Your four-legged friend travels safely and completely relaxed. In addition, it would be nice for you and your four-legged friend if your dog still travels in a clean crate upon arrival.
Because you do not make it a special event and remain completely relaxed and calm, this is, in most cases, also the case for your dog.
Do not give a dog sedative medication.
If you train things well in advance, this is not necessary at all. If this is necessary, ask yourself whether you want to take your four-legged friend on the trip. Is there no other option so that you can travel yourself and your four-legged friend stays, for example, in a kennel.
He is well cared for here, can play with friends, does not have the stress of the trip and is all the more happy when you return.
24 hours before the flight:
What to do during the 24 hours before the flight?
Make sure you have all the right paperwork with you. Dog has a CHIP and is registerd on your name and mobilenumber.
Do not feed your four-legged friend minimal 12 hours before the flight. They can easily do without it.
They can only suffer from a full stomach. They may vomit due to the excitement, and the digested food needs to be removed. You don't want your four-legged friend to do this in the crate and lie in their own feces for the entire flight. Or with a 100% housetrained dog that they have to do it if necessary and don't want to or do it in their crate that they get a stomach ache. Be sensible and make sure the stomach is empty.
The same goes for drinking. Refrain them from drinking until 2 hours before check-in.
Give your dog a good walk before checking in so that everything inside can still be removed. This way your dog will be much more relaxed and that will save you a lot of stress. During that walk let you dog go to his emotions and do not pull him away where he wants to examen the place where he is, probebly, never been before.
Do not leave unnecessary things in the crate such as food and water bowls, toys, collars, harnesses, etc. As indicated, food and water are not necessary during a flight and your dog can only hurt himself from these items. Toys, collars and harnesses are also not necessary during a flight. A dog can chew on this and eat the pieces, after which there is a risk of choking.
However, please ensure that you have 2 empty clean bolws, an empty bottle, a collar and a leash and any medication in your hand luggage.
At your destination:
When you land at your destination, you will pass a toilet and fill the empty bottle with clean drinking water.
After picking up your dog after costums, immediately open the crate in a safe place, put the collar on him and attach the leash to it and take him out to give him time to relieve himself and stretch his legs, after which you provide him with clean drinking water and possibly food and medication.
Happy dog = Happy owner - Happy flyght !!
