As we all know there is a huge problem in Aruba with stray dogs and a lack of knowledge among a lot of people. There are many foundations that are doing their best to solve this and to ensure that the dogs living on the streets, which usually carry many diseases, are beeing treated and get healthy.
When they are healthy and ready to be adopted, they can be placed in forever homes with dog lovers.
This entire process costs a lot of money and because of the many dogs in need for help their pot of money also reaches the bottom.
What can contribute to a solution so that fewer dogs live on the streets and sick dogs are better recognized by the residents of Aruba?
It all starts at the base.
These include the children in primary education. By bringing them into contact with the care of their dog(s) in a playful way, you create a bit of awareness and love for the animals. There is a foundation, called Foundation Snoop Doggy, that does this very well and is sponsored by many companies and private individuals.
It obviously does not end with the young children, but certainly also the young people in secondary school. More awareness can be stimulated with these young people.
What is important for a puppy, or any dog at all ages?
What are the signals and how to react?
Why is training with a puppy or any dog of all ages so important?
How can be the most common diseases recognized and when to go to a vet immediately?
What are the costs of care and what else is necessary when having a dog?
These kinds of topics and more can be discussed during an education by HDCC.
If desired, a demonstration can be given afterwards with our own dogs, including a purebred Arubian.
She was dumped with her mother, brothers and sisters and found at the age of about 3 weeks after which she was taken in, cared for and trained by us.
For more information, please contact HDCC and, in a personal conversation, we can discuss your wishes and find a solution.
